Reindeer Elegance

Good day! I'm Graciellie and I am delighted to be here today sharing a new card for this week's CCNS challenge - Santa's Reindeer. Christmas cards to me are the perfect kind of cards to use lots of sparkle and shimmer on, and of course today's card is no exception!

I created a monochromatic silver and white card using the double glitter technique, which consists basically in stenciling with with glitter.

To accomplish the double glitter look of my card:
1. Adhere a piece of White Pearl Linen to an 8 1/2" x 11" Double sided adhesive sheet.
2. Die cut the piece of White Pearl Linen already adhered to the Double sided adhesive sheet with Spellbinders Gold Circles One, using the medium sized circle.
3. Prepare your Large Damask brass stencil applying lots of Handmade Hawaiian Coconut and Palm Oil Soap to one of it's sides. Make sure you cover the stencil very well, but clean any excess that may get in the stencil's openings.
4. Take off the release backing from the die cut piece and place the prepared side of your stencil on the sticky side of your die cut.
5. Apply any desired color of glitter and spread carefully throughout the stencil to cover well your stenciled image. I used Silver dreams from Sparkle 'n Sprinkle
6. Use a scrap of paper to press down the glitter and make sure it adheres well.
7. Shake the excess glitter, clean your work area and very carefully take off your stencil from the sticky die cut.

8. Now, having taken off the stencil, apply a different color of glitter to the die cut to create contrast. I used Crystal Ice from Sparkle 'n Sprinkle.
9. Use another scrap of paper to press down the glitter and make sure it adheres correctly. Don't worry about the different glitters mixing, there is no color contamination whatsoever once they're adhered.

10. Tip: Seal the stenciled piece with hairspray for even more adherence of the glitters.

Now that your double glitter die cut is ready it's time to create the rest of the elements for the card.
11. Die cut and emboss a larger circle with Spellbinders Gold Circles One from Delicate Pastels Craft Foil by Spellbinder, using the back of the foil, to work with the silver side.
12. Also die cut a reindeer from white card stock and it's decorative bow from Delicate Pastels Craft Foil by Spellbinders, using Spellbinders Frosty Forms.
13. Heat emboss a Christmas sentiment on Heavyweight Vellum with Silver detail embossing powder.
14. Cut the piece of heat embossed  Heavyweight Vellum as a banner using a paper trimmer and scissors.
15. Prepare your white card stock card base and dry emboss the front of the card with an Reindeer Magic M-bossabilities embossing folder from Spellbinders, using the Raspberry Spacer - 8.2 5" x 11.75.
16. Add a piece of white organza ribbon across your card horizontally. I removed the metal sides of the organza ribbon to soften it.
17. Layer the organza ribbon with a piece of gray gross grain ribbon.

Now that all the elements are ready it's time to put the card together.
18. Mount the glitter die cut to the silver craft foil circle.
19. Mount the reindeer die cut to the left of the glitter circle making sure you adhere the vellum banner beneath it, covering it's straight end.
20. Embellish your card with some crystals. I added six Baby Rhinestones - Silver to the reindeer’s antlers, to finish my design.

I hope you enjoyed my card and tutorial. I love how my design resulted. The sparkle and the monochromatic combination sure make the card look very elegant. If you are looking for a more subtle look you can use this technique for smaller accents too, like flourishes and leaves and it would work just as nice.
