Morning on the Farm

Hello, it is Diana today! This week's challenge at CCNS is Black and Red with a Rooster.  Frankly, this was a real challenge for me!  I did grow up in Arkansas and even had pet chickens, but I can't say I ever made a rooster themed card.  But then I spotted the Impression Obsession Farm Girl die set, from the online store and it was easy peasy!  :)

I started with a Darice honey comb embossing folder and black card base. I then used Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A to trim a piece of red card stock for my angled layer.

I had some wood grain paper that I thought would look great as a barn background. I ripped and sponged a white piece of card stock, with Evergreen Bough Distress Stain and Walnut Stain Distress Ink Marker, to make it look like grass and dirt in front of the wood grain paper.

I cut out the Farm Girl die set out of white card stock, and also out of red card stock.  I paper pieced her dress on her instead of coloring it all red.  I used markers to add shading and colors to all the pieces. I later went back and used a white gel pen to add some details to her dress.  The fence and rooster is popped up with Joy! Small Foam Pads.

I had to google a picture of a rooster in order to color it - what would we do without google? My duck would have been lost in the white background, so I added a black bracket tab using MFT Blueprints 13 - it also helped balance the card.

Thank you so much for looking, and hope you can play along this week!
